Separate building and maintenance crews

Terrassiehitus Tallinn has built and maintained terraces at homes across Tallinn and Harju County since 2008. Our 13 people work in three crews: two build new terraces, while a dedicated maintenance crew oils and repairs existing ones. The crews work at the same time, so a busy maintenance schedule does not delay construction. By the end of 2025, our work log recorded 1,456 jobs for 855 customers; 371 customers had commissioned at least two jobs. We completed 126 jobs in 2023, 129 in 2024 and 131 in 2025.

Pile records and a written warranty

We reply to enquiries on the same working day. Site surveys and quotes are free throughout Tallinn and Harju County. Our three-year written workmanship warranty for the load-bearing structure is supported by pile installation records. Our standard hot-dip galvanised screw pile is 76 mm in diameter and 1.5 m long, with an 80-micron zinc coating.

The crew leader records each site's soil type, whether sand, clay or limestone, at the top of the pile record and selects the pile length accordingly. In winter, frozen ground prevents pile installation, so the team reviews maintenance contracts, orders next season's materials and updates the office samples. By the end of 2025, the pile records covered 7,864 piles on 537 sites, including 1,127 with a 1 m extension.

From evening projects to three crews

In 2008, Tõnis Raidma built the first wooden terraces in Peetri alongside his day job, in the evenings and on weekends, and did every job himself from start to finish: measurement, foundation, frame, boards and stairs. In the first season, 6 terraces were completed. One man's evenings were not enough for the orders, and Tõnis hired his first helpers: 13 terraces were completed in 2009 and 17 in 2010. That's how the side job became Terrassiehitus Tallinn.

Over the years, the work expanded from pine terraces to larch, thermowood and composite decking, shelters and carports, and maintenance and repair of existing terraces. Screw piles became our standard terrace foundation: each is installed below the frost depth using a torque meter and recorded individually. By the end of 2025, our Peetri crews had built 297 pine, 81 larch, 31 thermowood and 163 composite terraces, along with 81 shelters and 46 carports.

Our Peetri office and warehouse opened in 2015, bringing together our stock of treated pine, beams, screw piles, fixings and composite decking. A trailer beside the warehouse carries six-metre beams to sites. The office sample wall displays materials from pine to composite and a lengthwise cutaway screw pile, so customers can feel the timber and see inside a pile before receiving a quote. Our crews completed 47 construction jobs in the building's first season, compared with 32 in 2014.

Two construction crews and a separate maintenance crew grew out of the first assistants. From April to October, the construction crews build terraces, shelters and carports all over Tallinn and Harju County, and the maintenance crew keeps the finished terraces in order in the same area. In 2025, the construction crews did 64 construction jobs and the maintenance crew 67 oiling and repair jobs.

Alongside Tõnis are our Peetri terrace builders. You can see itemised prices for their construction and maintenance projects, and the construction and maintenance crews are recruiting a terrace builder and maintenance specialist.
