Why Choose Terrassiehitus Tallinn?

  • Timber and composite terraces: Since 2008, we have built terraces across Tallinn and Harju County. By the end of 2025, our crews had completed 431 timber terraces and 163 composite terraces, including 41 on aluminium frames.
  • Dedicated maintenance crew: Two construction crews build new terraces, while a separate crew oils and repairs existing ones. New builds and spring maintenance therefore do not compete for the same people or workdays. Since 2014, the maintenance crew has completed 661 oiling and repair jobs.
  • Free site survey: Surveys and quotes are free in Tallinn and Harju County. Beyond Harju County, travel costs €0.87 per kilometre; we show that charge in the quote before the first trip. Our crew leaders carried out 183 free surveys in 2025.
  • Separate warranties for the frame and boards: The contract lists two distinct warranties. We repair faults in the load-bearing structure for three years, while the manufacturer warrants composite boards for 25 years. Our structural warranty is backed by pile records covering 7,864 piles by the end of 2025.
  • The foundation has its own line in the quote: We itemise the foundation separately from decking, railings and stairs, so you can see exactly what the piles or blocks cost. An average screw pile foundation uses 14.6 piles and costs €803.
  • Work begins within 14 working days: A confirmed order gets a place in the construction schedule, and work begins by the 14th working day at the latest. We reply to enquiries on the same working day. Sixty-four construction projects were scheduled in the 2025 season.
  • Sample boards at our Peetri warehouse: Visit our office to see and touch every decking option and a cutaway screw pile before choosing the timber and foundation for your quote.

What Customers Say About Our Terraces

Before restoration: an exposed terrace frame on concrete blocks outside a grey timber house. Boards must be at least 24 mm thick for restoration.

Our pine terrace had gone grey over ten years, and some boards gave way underfoot. The Terrassiehitus Tallinn crew replaced three rotten beams, sanded the decking and applied two coats of oil. The job took three days; each evening they cleared away their tools and sawdust. The terrace looks new again, and we received written guidance on when to oil it next.

The screw pile foundation was installed in one day and the terrace was finished within a week, without excavation or piles of soil in the garden.

Our Six Terrace Services

  • A builder carries a decking board across a partly laid timber terrace, with the bare frame in front. We leave a temporary walkway by the terrace door during construction.

    Wooden Terrace Construction

A timber terrace in treated pine, Siberian larch or thermowood starts at €108/m². All three options use 28 mm boards, and our average pine terrace covers 28.1 m². With every timber terrace, we provide written care instructions stating when to apply the first coat of oil and which oil suits the wood.

  • A builder fits a grey composite board outside a house. Rubber tape beneath the decking helps reduce footstep noise.

    Composite Terrace Construction

Composite decking made from wood fibre and plastic is fixed to battens with concealed clips and starts at €149/m². It never needs oiling; our average composite terrace covers 31.2 m². We leave a 6 mm expansion gap between boards, and the boards carry a 25-year manufacturer warranty.

  • A worker checks the level of beams on concrete blocks; every beam joint sits above a block or pile head.

    Terrace Foundation

We build terrace foundations on screw piles, concrete blocks or posts. Support points extend below our estimated 1.2 m frost depth in Harju County; by the end of 2025, we had installed 9,874 of them. Before choosing a foundation, we check the soil with a hand auger in two places so limestone, clay or sand is known before the order.

  • A worker brushes oil onto timber decking, moving from the house wall towards the steps to avoid walking on wet boards.

    Terrace Oiling and Maintenance

Sanding and two coats of oil restore weathered timber decking from €20/m². Our maintenance crew has treated 11,529 m² of decking. We oil only when the forecast is dry and above 15°C, and provide a one-year warranty on the oiling work.

  • A builder on a ladder fastens rafters above a terrace. We plan the rafters on all four sides before installation.

    Construction of shelters

We build carports, pergolas, terrace roofs and glazed terraces. A timber-framed shelter starts at €235/m²; we had built 127 by the end of 2025. At quotation stage, we check whether the structure falls below the 20 m² building notice threshold or needs a notice.

  • A builder lifts old decking with a pry bar, with replacement boards nearby. We open the decking in three places before quoting for repairs.

    Terrace Repair

We replace rotten beams, split boards, loose railings and uneven steps while keeping sound parts in place. Of 243 repairs, 158 were completed in one working day. A beam is replaced based on a moisture-meter reading: in dry weather, a reading above 20% calls for replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in a terrace quote?

After the free site survey, we send a written, itemised quote. The foundation, supporting frame, decking, railings and stairs each have their own line. We base the foundation price on a hand-auger test hole at the site.

Do you build terraces for both detached houses and terraced houses?

Yes. We build low and raised terraces with railings and steps for detached houses, terraced houses, semi-detached houses and cottages. We had completed 594 by the end of 2025. Our standard foundation uses screw piles, which can be installed without leaving excavated soil in the garden.

How are Materials and Labor Billed?

We invoice warehouse materials such as treated pine, beams, screw piles and composite boards together with the labour. You pay by bank transfer after handover. For special-order larch and thermowood, the supplier invoices you directly at the price shown in our quote.

Will the removed decking be left on my property?

No. We bag the removed boards, offcuts and packaging on site and take them to our Peetri warehouse for sorting. In 2025, we sorted 14,860 kg of waste this way. At handover, we clear the sawdust and give you written care instructions with the recommended date for the next service.
